Not Enough Sequins

I already own a floral pastel sequin top (English native speakers, is this correct? Too many adjectives!), but I kinda fell in love with this one from Penneys/Primark. It's slightly different from the one I got from H&M and it's only €15... Should I go for it?

Birthday Shopping

All from Accessorize

Today I'm showing some things I bought on my birthday. I didn't want to, but I was making time to have dinner and decided to go to Accessorize. I wasn't buying anything, but there were sales and it was my birthday, so I thought "What the hell, I deserve this". 

I fell in love with half the store but I narrowed it down to these small and delicate pieces that would easily fit in my summer wardrobe. It was great that I found this evil eye bracelet. I had been looking for one I could wear everyday and this is just perfect.

Hoje venho-vos mostrar umas coisinhas que comprei no meu dia de anos. Eu não queria, mas como estava a fazer tempo para ir jantar, decidi entrar na Accessorize. Não era para comprar nada, mas havia saldos e era o aniversário então pensei "Que se lixe, eu mereço!".

É óbvio que me apaixonei por metade da loja, mas consegui reduzir o estrago a estas peças. São pequenas e delicadas e super fáceis de incorporar no meu guarda-roupa de Verão. E foi fantástico ter encontrado esta pulseira com o olho do mau olhado. Já há algum tempo que procurava uma gira que desse para usar todos os dias e esta é perfeita.

I Didn't Need Therapy, I Needed To Go Shopping

Hi everyone! Here I am as promised showing you the gorgeous things I got last week, when I went on my well deserved shopping spree.  I also thought it'd be nice to share some of my top shopping tips.

Olá a todos! Como prometido, aqui estou para vos mostrar as minhas comprinhas mais recentes, que fiz na minha merecida maratona de compras. Também achei que seria útil partilhar algumas das técnicas que uso quando vou às compras.

#1 - Make a list 

Having a list was very helpful. Not only does it remind you of you have to get, but it also prevents unnecessary purchases. 

This was my list:

• 1 pair of Evans pastel jeans - which I got in coral for €30
• 1 or two plain white t-shirts- got 1 plain t at H&M for €9 and another one with a frilly hem at Penneys/Primark for €6
• 1 fancy and versatile top I could wear on a job interview or out to dinner - the coral one by Dorothy Perkins for €22. It has a beautiful color and shape and a great detail on the shoulders. It's a bit see-through so I need to wear it with a camisole underneath.
• 1 casual top - shell and starfish print top by Dorothy Perkins for €13
• 1 peplum top that would not look terrible on me - unfortunately I couldn't find one, but I haven't given up just yet.
• 1 small treat under €10 - great golden tribal earrings by Dorothy Perkins that I've been dreaming about for the last couple of weeks. They were €10.

#1- Faz uma lista

Ter uma lista ajuda bastante. Não só nos lembra aquilo que precisamos comprar, como também evita que compremos coisas desnecessárias.

Esta foi a minha lista:

• 1 par de calças em pastel da Evans- que comprei em coral por €30
• 1 ou 2 t-shirts brancas - comprei uma simples na H&M por €9 e uma na Penneys/Primark com um folhinho nos rebordos por €6
• 1 top mais aprumadinho, mas versátil que desse tanto para uma entrevista de trabalho, como para uma saída à noite- comprei um coral mais neon da Dorothy Perkins por €22. Tem uma cor linda e um pormenor giríssimo nas mangas. É um pouco transparente, por isso tem de ser usado com algo por baixo.
• 1 top casual - o top com estampa de conchinhas e estrelas do mar da Dorothy Perkins por €13
• 1 top em peplum que não ficasse medonho - infelizmente ainda não foi desta, mas não vou desistir.
• 1 miminho de valor inferior a €10 - comprei estes brincos tribais da Dorothy Perkins por €10. já andava a sonhar com uns assim há imenso tempo.

#2 - Pay with cash

I always pay cash, cause seeing the money actually gives me the sense of how much I'm spending. Another technique I use is to keep the money in separate parts of my wallet, so I get a better idea of how much is going away. For example, keep €20 in your coin pocket, €30 where you keep my cards, and so on...

I've been doing this since I'm a teen and it has always worked for me.

#2 Paga com dinheiro

Pago sempre com dinheiro, porque assim tenho uma maior noção do dinheiro que estou a gastar. Outra técnica que uso é ter o dinheiro em diferentes partes da carteira, para perceber melhor quanto estou a gastar. Ponho, por exemplo, €20 na parte das moedas, €30 na parte dos cartões e por aí adiante.

Faço isto desde a adolescência e tenho-me dado bem.

#3 - Avoid Traps

Lately I've been avoiding shops that I know have beautiful things I couldn't resist but that I don't really need. For instance, if I'm going to buy clothes or shoes, I don't go in to stores that only sell jewelry or make-up. The other day, I almost went in Accessorize, but I didn't cause I didn't need anything from there, avoiding to spend the rest of my money of beautiful things I don't need.

#3 - Evita lojas armadilha

Nos últimos tempos tenho evitado lojas com aquelas coisas lindas que eu acabo sempre por comprar, mesmo não estando na minha lista. Por exemplo, se vou comprar roupa ou sapatos, não entro em lojas de bijuteria ou maquilhagem.  No outro dia quase que entrei na Accessorize, mas contive-me, porque não precisava de nada de lá. Assim, evitei gastar o meu precioso e escasso dinheiro em lindas coisas de que não preciso mesmo nada.

# 4 - Use only one bag

As I was walking towards Henry Street (where I did my shopping here in Dublin) I realized how many bags one collects when shopping and how much of a waste it really is. Not that I trow them away. I use them to keep things or as trash bags, but really, there's only so many bags a person needs. So I decided to put everything in the same bag. But you can do better. You can take your own reusable shopping bag like you do when you go groceries' shopping. The environment appreciates it.
#4 - Usa apenas um saco 
Enquanto me dirigia à Henry Street (onde fiz as comprinhas aqui em Dublin), apercebi-me da quantidade de sacos que uma pessoa acumula quando vai às compras e quão grande é o desperdício. Não que os deite fora. Uso-os sempre para guardar coisas ou como sacos do lixo, mas há um número limitado de sacos que uma pessoa precisa nesta vida. Por isso decidi pôr tudo no mesmo saco. Mas ainda podemos fazer melhor. Podemos levar o nosso próprio saco, como fazemos como vamos às compras. O ambiente agradece.

I have to say I've never been heavier but I never felt more at peace while shopping. Instead of getting mad for not fitting in a certain garment, I just got a bigger size. And when certain things didn't look good on me, like this one. I just put them back, accepting that I can't look fabulous in everything.
Age really does bring peace and confidence. Praise the Lord!
Oh and I must add that I got to do all this shopping with money my mom and my grandparents sent for my birthday. Thank you!:)
E tenho a dizer que nunca estive tão gorda, mas nunca me senti tão em paz numa ida às compras. Em vez de ficar zangada quando algo não me servia, ia buscar o tamanho acima. E se não houvesse tamanho maior, paciência.
E quando algo não me ficava bem, como esta, punha-a de lado e aceitava o facto de não poder ficar fabulosa em tudo.
A idade traz mesmo paz e confiança. Graças a Deus!
Ah e tenho de acrescentar que comprei isto tudo com dinheiro que a minha mãe e os meus avós me enviaram como prenda de anos. Obrigada! :)

Birthday Countdown - 4 Days To 26

H&M

Hi everyone!

Today was such a lazy day! I started preparing a post about my shopping yesterday, including some tricks that I use so I don't go bankrupt, but I was overwhelmed by laziness, sleepiness and other bad things and couldn't finish it. And since tonight I'm going out, I'll leave it for tomorrow. So today we get the usual countdown (that is coming to an end. yay, I'm almost 26!). This time I decided to share this necklace from H&M that I saw the other day. I think it'd look great with a white t-shirt (I've been obsessed with white t-shirts and statement necklaces lately), don't you think?

Next week I'll try to hunt it down at H&M.

Olá!

Hoje foi um dia tão cheio de preguiça! Comecei a preparar o meu post sobre as minhas compras de ontem, que inclui uns truques que eu uso para não ir à falência, mas comecei a sentir uma preguiça e um sono que já não consegui acabar. E como vou sair hoje à noite, vou deixar o post para amanhã. Assim, hoje, temos a habitual contagem decrescente, que já está a chegar ao fim (yay Já estou quase a fazer anos!). Desta vez decidi partilhar este colar que vi na H&M no outro dia. Acho que ficava um máximo com uma t-shirt branca (Ando obcecada com t-shirts brancas e colares enormes. Acho que fica lindo!), não acham?

Para a semana vou tentar caçá-lo na H&M.

Birthday Countdown - 5 Days To 26

Dorothy Perkins

Hi everyone!

So today I woke up a bit down. I wasn't sad or sick, just...down. So instead of  staying like that and probably eat my weight in cookies I decided to go shopping (I'm planning on writing more about that tomorrow, cause today I'm just dead. But I'm so excited! Got great things.). One of the many things I tried on was this blouse from Dorothy Perkins. I really adored the print and the way it fit from my boobs up, but sadly it was a disaster from the girls down. The blouse although in my size (yay to stores that have my size) it was in a very  flowy fabric. And why is that an issue, you ask? You see the problem is my boobs are ginormous and the fabric hits them and falls down which makes it look like I'm a pregnant bear inside a tent. I was a bit disappointed, but I loved it so much I decided to share it with you, so maybe one of you ladies can enjoy it.

Olá! Hoje acordei meio em baixo. Não estava triste nem doente, apenas em baixo. Mas em vez de ficar em baixo e muito provavelmente comer o meu peso em bolachas, decidi ir às compras (Amanhã adianto mais sobre o assunto, porque hoje estou morta. Mas estou super excitada. Comprei coisas tão giras!).Uma das muitas coisas que experimentei foi este top da Dorothy Perkins. Adorei o padrão e a forma como ficava das mamas para cima, mas infelizmente ficava um desastre das meninas para baixo. Apesar de ser o meu tamanho (yay às lojas que têm o meu tamanho), o tecido da dita era muito leve. E qual é o problema, perguntam vocês? É que as minhas mamas são mega enormes e o tecido caí nesse sítio, o que me faz parecer uma ursa grávida dentro duma tenda. Fiquei um bocadinho desapontada, mas gostei tanto dela que decidi partilhá-la convosco. Gostam?

Plus Size Me Goes To Zara

Hi everyone! I'm back! Sorry for being absent, but I've been in Portugal for over a month and I ended up spending the whole time with my family, specially my sister. 

The time (and money) was short but I still managed to enjoy some shopping with my favorite girls, my sis and my mom. Here is the one piece of clothing I got. An amazing white waistcoat from Zara. I fell in love with it the moment I laid eyes on it and as soon as that happened I felt the overwhelming fear of me not fitting inside it...Still, I looked for the bigger size (L...I mean really...) and slowly tried it on in the middle of the store praying that know one would see my ridiculous attempt of fitting into a Zara item. But for my astonishment, it fit. Not like it fits the models in the pictures but it looked good. Since I have broad shoulders and big boobs, the front part of the waistcoat kinda sits on the side, but I don't  think anyone notices that's not how it's meant to look. Needless to say I had to have it. Although it was a bit over budget, I couldn't resist the impeccable tailoring and the gorgeous transparent sections. It's one of those different pieces that it would be a sin not to have. What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do? And how do you feel about the fact that some brands only have a very limited size selection? For instance at Zara, some of the items are only made in S and M sizes... Mango also has pieces that only go from S to an L...I just amazes me that brands don't understand that they are missing on some serious business. It's understandable that some pieces are only manufactured in some sizes in order not to compromise design. But we're talking about t-shirts and blazers here...Another of fashion's greatest mysteries. Well, let me know your thoughts on this matter. And I promise to be back soon.

Oh, I also got some cool and very cheap nail polish and some make-up. I'll show them later.

Olá a todos! Estou de volta! Peço desculpa pela ausência prolongada, mas estive mais de um mês em Portugal e acabei por passar o tempo todo com a minha família, especialmente com a minha irmã. 

O tempo (e o orçamento) foi curto, mas ainda consegui fazer umas comprinhas com as minhas meninas preferidas, a minha maninha e a minha mãe. E esta é a única peça de roupa que comprei. Um colete lindo da Zara. Apaixonei-me por ele assim que lhe deitei os olhos em cima, e assim que isso aconteceu, fui inundada por um medo esmagador de não caber dentro dele... Ainda assim, procurei o tamanho maior (que era o L...a sério...) e ali no meio da loja, decidi experimentá-lo, rezando para que ninguém testemunhasse a minha tentativa ridícula de caber dentro de uma peça da Zara. Mas, para meu espanto, não é que serviu? Não me fica exactamente como nas modelos acima, mas fica bem. Como tenho ombros largos e peito grande, a parte da frente fica mais de lado, mas acho que ninguém nota que não era assim que era suposto ficar. Óbvio que tinha mesmo de o comprar! Apesar de estar um bocadinho fora do meu orçamento, não consegui resistir ao corte impecável e àquelas transparências lindas. É uma daquelas peças que seria pecado não comprar. 

O que acham? Gostam?

E o que é que pensam do facto de muitas marcas terem um número muito limitado de tamanhos? Por exemplo, a Zara tem peças que só estão disponíveis em tamanho S e M...A Mango também tem peças que só vão do S ao L... Espanta-me o facto das marcas não perceberem que estão a perder negócio. Percebo que algumas peças só sejam apresentadas em alguns tamanhos, de modo a não comprometer o design e a forma como a roupa é suposto ficar, mas estamos a falar de t-shirts e blazers banais... Mais um dos grandes mistérios da moda. Bem, contem-me o que acham de tudo isto.

Ah, também comprei vernizes e maquilhagem muito boa e baratinha. Mostro depois!

Xmas Gifts For The Ones I Love

 Topshop

Today I meant to go Christmas shopping but it was so warm inside and so cold outside...I did manage to look for some inspiration and I found this amazing head band for my sister and these earmuffs for my mom. My sister is definitely the trendsetter in her preteen clique so this would be perfect. My mom on the other hand has a more romantic, lady like taste, which is why these crochet earmuffs would be a great gift. She's also very cold, so it's cute and practical.

Tomorrow I'll try to ignore this dreadful Irish weather and do some serious Christmas shopping! How about you? Are you done with your shopping? Do you like getting gifts for others? I love it! I just wish I wouldn't stress so much over the fact that it might not be the perfect gift!

Also, are you more frugal this year, since the crisis is really hitting or do you go crazy? I'm trying to get more useful gifts and buy less things, but all the pretty things keep calling me...

Hoje era para ter ido fazer as minha compras de Natal, mas estava tão quentinho cá dentro e tão frio lá fora... No entanto, andei pela net a inspirar-me e encontrei esta bandolete fantástica para a minha irmã e estas "orelhinhas" para a minha mãe. A minha irmã é sem dúvida, a trendsetter no seu grupinho de amigas pré-adolescente, por isso isto seria perfeito. A minha mãe tem um estilo mais romântico e lady like, o que faz com estas "orelhinhas" sejam um presente fantástico. Ela também é super friorenta, por isso não só é fofo como é prático.

Amanhã vou tentar ignorar este medonho tempo irlandês e fazer umas comprinhas! E vocês já fizeram as vossas compras? Gostam de oferecer presentes aos outros? Eu adoro! Só gostava ser menos stressada e preocupar-me menos em oferecer a prenda perfeita!

Ah e estão mais poupadinhos este ano com a crise ou vão enlouquecer na hora de comprar? Eu vou tentar oferecer menos coisas e coisas mais úteis, mas as coisas bonitas continuam a chamar tanto por mim...

Papai Tucano

Don't know if it's the rain and the cold, but since I moved to Dublin I have a new appreciation for all things exotic. So I couldn't resist this H&M necklace! Got it a couple of weeks ago, but I still haven't figured out a way to wear it. The weather's been so... Irish, a colourful tucan wouldn't fit in.

Não sei se é do frio e da chuva, mas desde que vim para Dublin, ganhei um gostinho por tudo o que é exótico. Por isso, não consegui resistir a este colar da H&M! Já o comprei há duas semanas, mas ainda não descobri forma de o usar. O tempo tem estado tão... irlandês, que um tucano colorido não ia ficar bem.

A Perfect Saturday Morning

Last Saturday was such a good day for shopping! Went to H&M and got this amazing coat! It got me smiling the whole weekend! And they say money can't buy happiness...

It's so perfect! First of all, it fits me! I can actually button it up, which has become a very difficult task because of all the kilos (and cup sizes) I have been putting on! Yes, I do know that it is a no no to be a fat fashionista! My blog's called "The Girl Who Couldn't Be A Fashionista" for a reason!

O último sábado foi um óptimo dia para compras! Fui à H&M do Colombo e comprei este casaco fantástico! Fez-me sorrir o fim-de-semana inteiro! E ainda dizem que o dinheiro não compra felicidade!

É tão perfeito! Antes de mais, serve-me! Consigo abotoá-lo, o que últimamente, com os kilos (e copas) que tenho acumulado, tem sido uma tarefa difícil! Sim, eu sei que é errado ser uma fashionista gorda! Não é por acaso que este blogue se chama "The Girl Who Couldn't Be A Fashionista" (a rapariga que não podia ser uma fashionista)!

But back to my gorgeous new wardrobe favourite! I love the 50's feel as well as the nude colour! Being a fat and not so wealthy fashionista, I've learned minimal and neutral can take you a long way!

And how about the abstract floral print of the lining?

Mas de volta à minha nova peça preferida! Adoro a vibe anos 50 e a cor nude! Ser uma fashionista gorda e não muito abonada ensinou-me que o minimal e neutro nos leva longe! E o forro com padrão floral abstracto?

And look at the pocket! Just beautiful! I absolutely adore details like these!
