Where Have I Seen That?

My version of hell is having all these designer and very expensive goods around me and not being able to buy any of them! I'd say most of us have been there...

So I'm always happy when kinda-obvious-but-not-really knock-offs come along.

I don't actually like that fake stuff you can buy from the back of a truck, but I'm totally up for those items that are inspired in a designer piece, but don't itend to be that piece. It's feeding luxury (look-a-likes) to the masses, without really offending the designer.

It's really saying: "Look, these poor girls are struggling to pay the bills. They can't buy your stuff! Ever! Let them have something!"

Designers can complain all they want, but would I buy a designer bag right now? No! So whatever brand is copying them, is not really taking any clientelle away. They're serving another demographic: the poor!

Now that I sort of made my case in general, let's get to the specific, the Jil Sander plastic bag inspired bag. It's summery, cool and all things good, but also very expensive. The solution to have one of the it pieces of the season? H&M version of the plastic bag bag. It's not the same! Not at all! But it looks good! As good as a €20 H&M bag is gonna look!

Onde é que eu já vi isto?

A minha versão do Inferno é ter estas peças designer à minha volta e não poder comprar nada! Acho que a maioria se pode relacionar...

Por isso, fico sempre super contente quando encontro umas imitações que não são bem imitações. Eu não sou muito a favor daqueles produtos falsos que o pessoal encontra em várias feiras e mercados por esse país fora, mas quando se trata de um produto inspirado noutro, mas sem a pretensão de ser esse produto, então já estamos a falar outra língua. É dar luxo (quase quase) à massas, sem ofender o designer. É dizer: " Olhem, estas pobres moças já se vêem aflitas para pagar as contas, quanto mais comprar malas caras! Deixem-nas ter qualquer coisinha!" Estas marcas que copiam determinado produto não estão a roubar clientela. Elas estão a servir um grupo completamente diferente: os pobres!

Agora que eu já apresentei o meu caso, vamos aos específicos da coisa, a mala da Jil Sander inspirada em sacos de plástico. Tem um toque a Verão e um ar cool, mas também é a dar para o caro. Por isso, qual a solução para ter uma das peças da estação? A versão da H&M! Não é a mesma coisa de todo! Não tem tão bom aspecto! Não tem! Mas tem tão bom aspecto quanto uma mala de €20 da H&M iria ter.

Versace For H&M

After Lanvin, Jimmy Choo and many others, it is time for Versace to join forces with the Swedish retail giant, H&M.

The announcement came as a surprise, since Donatella Versace, the creative director of the brand, has claimed that working with H&M was not in her plans. " I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I don't do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand, " she told New York Magazine back in 2008.

However, today, Donatella showed her enthusiasm for her f/w 2011 collaboration with H&M. "I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience." And added, "The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere. "

After that, and based on the released photos of the collection, I bellieve we should expect lot's of studded leather, bold and colourful prints and very short skirts.

Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M shares her feelings about working with the italian brand. " Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collections for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant - everything Versace stands for.

The Versace for H&M collection will also include menswear with stong tailoring and homewear to add some italian style to your home. It will be in stores on November 17, followed by a pre-spring collection available online from January 19.

I am totally getting a piggy bank just for this collection. Wonder if the Dublin stores will be amongst the 300 that will carry the collection. If not I must book a flight home.

A notícia foi uma surpresa, sendo que em declarações à New York Magazine em 2008, Donatella Versace, directora criativa da Versace, declarou não pretender trabalhar com a H&M. "Respeito quem o faz. Mas a razão pela qual não o faço é, porque trabalho imenso para colocar a Versace na secção de luxo. Acho que juntar a Versace com a H&M ia confundir a marca."

No entanto, hoje, Donatella mostrou entusiasmo por trabalhar com a marca nesta colecção Outono/Inverno 2011. "Estou maravilhada por estar a colaborar com a H&M e ter a oportunidade de chegar ao seu vasto público. E acrescentou, " A colecção vai ser puro Versace, perfeito para fãs da Versace e da H&M. "

Depois disto, e baseado nas fotografias disponíveis, acho que é seguro esperar muito cabedal com tachas, padrões fortes e coloridos e saias muito muito curtas.

Vou já juntar um dinheirinho só para esta colecção. Será que as lojas de Dublin estarão entre as 300 lojas que venderão a colecção? Se não tenho de marcar um viagem a casa.

I just had to have the June issue of Vogue Italia, an issue dedicated to plus sized beauty featuring three curvy models on the cover (Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawly). The girls were shot in black and white by Steven Meisel and the result is a sultry editorial that just makes you wanna have that big greasy burger!

It really feels great to see girls that kinda look like you (only a million times better) on the most coveted cover in the world. Hope the rest of the fashion world is watching and taking notes!

Simplesmente não podia passar sem comprar a Vogue Itália de Junho! Com três modelos curvilíneas na capa (Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawly), a edição de Junho salienta que a beleza engloba mais que um só tamanho.

As raparigas foram fotografadas a preto e branco por Steven Meisel e o resultado é um editorial sensual que nos faz esquecer as dietas e comer aquele hamburger cheio de gordura!

É mesmo ver raparigas que até se parecem comigo (só que muito mais giras) na capa mais cobiçada do mundo. Espero que o resto do mundo da moda esteja a ver e a tirar notas!

After watching my mom put on silk scarf after silk scarf over the years, it's no wonder that I've got a bit of a silk scarf addiction myself. I haven't wore them in a long time, but I remember wearing them to school at the tender age of 12. Definitely, the most sophisticated girl in class! Now I feel it's time to go back to this classy accessory. I love these scarves I saw on The Outnet (I'm so glad I don't own a credit card, otherwise getting The Outnet newsletter every day would lead me to major debt!).

Depois de anos e anos a ver a minha mãe usar lenços de seda, é natural que eu própria tenha uma pequena paixão por eles. Há muito tempo que não uso nenhum, mas lembro-me de os levar para a escola com a tenra idade de 12 anos. Sem dúvida, a miúda mais sofisticada da turma! Agora acho que está na altura de voltar a usar este acessório cheio de classe. Don't know if it's the rain and the cold, but since I moved to Dublin I have a new appreciation for all things exotic. So I couldn't resist this H&M necklace! Got it a couple of weeks ago, but I still haven't figured out a way to wear it. The weather's been so... Irish, a colourful tucan wouldn't fit in.

Não sei se é do frio e da chuva, mas desde que vim para Dublin, ganhei um gostinho por tudo o que é exótico. Por isso, não consegui resistir a este colar da H&M! Já o comprei há duas semanas, mas ainda não descobri forma de o usar. O tempo tem estado tão... irlandês, que um tucano colorido não ia ficar bem.

The Queen Goes Green

Not being Irish, I love Queen Elizabeth! She's such a badass! I've got absolutely nothing against her and I would love to see her in person. Being in Dublin now, I thought I had a good chance. I just forgot some Irish people hold a grudge for way too long! Protests, bombs... Seriously! Get over it already! It's not healthy anymore!

Oh well... Moving on! I just loved the fact the Queen wore green on her first day in Ireland. So pc! And I'm so feeling it with the black accessories! I'm not a big fan of the Queen's style. Which is not so weird since she's old enough to be my grandma but I'm a bit obsessed with her green coat. I'd die for a coat like that! Colour-blocking here I come!

I also quite liked President Mary McAleese's pink outfit! Not the style in particular, but the colour! I love that pink! And it goes so well with the Queen's green! You go girls!

Não sendo irlandesa, adoro a Rainha Isabel! Ela é tão badass! Não tenho nada contra ela e adorava vê-la em pessoa! Estando em Dublin, pensei que tinha uma oportunidade, mas esqueci-me que há alguns irlandeses que são demasiado rancorosos! Protestos, bombas... A sério! Esqueçam isso! Já não é saudável!

Enfim... Vamos avançar! Adorei o facto da Rainha ter usado verde no seu primeiro dia na Irlanda. Tão pc! Também estou a gostar da conjugação com os acessórios pretos! Não sou grande fã do estilo da Rainha, o que até é normal, sendo que ela tem idade para ser minha avó, mas estou um bocadinho obcecada com o casaco dela. Morria por um casaco daqueles! Colour-blocking aqui vou eu!

Também gostei do conjunto rosa da Presidente Mary McAleese. Não o estilo em particular, mas a cor. Adoro aquele rosa! E fica tão bem com o verde da Rainha! Boa, meninas!
